Dear Church Family and Friends,
It is that time of year again that we celebrate the advent of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For the past several years, we have joined a movement called “The Advent Conspiracy,” which seeks to restore a biblical emphasis to our celebration of Christmas. One important aspect of Christmas that is often lost in the hustle and bustle of the holiday is worship.
Worship is a vital part of the Christmas celebration. Worship is why He came. In his excellent book, Let The Nations Be Glad: The Supremacy of God in Missions, John Piper states: “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” In other words, we are called to be obedient to the Great Commission because here are people who do not know and therefore do not worship the one, true God. Therefore, it is our desire to expand worship to all the people groups that leads us to invest in missions.
Here are some recent statistics that reveal how our giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering impacts worship around the
world. Southern Baptist missionaries and their national partners were able to:
- Present the gospel to more than 1,400,000 people
- Baptize more than 266,000 new believers
- Start more than 24,000 churches, and
- Engage 133 new people groups.
How can we impact worship right here in the Randolph community? Invite your friends to join you for our worship services and Sunday school – in fact, offer them a ride to church. Invite your friends to attend some of our special events that we are having this month: the living nativity, the homeschool Christmas production, and the Christmas Eve candelight service are some of the opportunities. What if we gave out more personal invitations to come to worship Jesus than we gave out Christmas cards or gifts? Would our celebration of Christmas be different?
May God bless you,
